Pension Arrears Calculator as Per New Formulation 1

Pension Arrears Calculator as Per New Formulation 1

The Pension Arrears Calculator provided below show you the difference between the amount of Pension arrived from two Options. As per the DoPPW order dated 12th may 2017, Pension can be calculated from two formulations for pre 2016 Pensioners. Now it has been decided that Pension may be revised by notionally fixing their pay in the pay matrix recommended by the 7th CPC in the level corresponding to the pay in the pay scale/pay band and grade pay at which they retired/died. If fixing the Pension by this method is beneficial than the Pension revised by Using Option II , Arrears should be paid from 1st January 2016

According to Para.No.17 of DoPPW order dated 12th May 2017, the arrears on account of revision of pension/family pension in terms of these orders would be admissible with effect from 01.01.2016.

So the Pension Arrears Calculator provided below show you the difference between the amount of Pension arrived from two Options. If New formulation (Option No.I) is beneficial than Option No.II (Fixed by Multiplying with 2.57) arrears will be paid. Otherwise there will be no need for payment of arrears.

  1. I’m 1991 retiree from Railway in 1991 in scale RS 1400-2300 with a basic Pay of RS 1720/-. My basic was fixed at RS 5807/- in GP 2800 in 6th CPC. In the ready reckoning calculator 1400_2300 scale is shown in GP 4200/-. If I calculate my basic in GP 2800, my pension works less than mf 2.57 already fixed. If I select GP 4200 as shown against my 4th CPC scale of 1400-2300 in the table of the calculator, then I get 17700 which appears reasonable. PL let me know what is the GP for scale 1400-2300 of my 4th CPC?

This formula is not useful to revise running staff, (drivers and guards) pre 2006 retirees. Please suggest suitably.(M.R.Satyanarayana/

  4. Neither the notional pay calculator nor the new arrears calculator seem to be working. When you click the calculate button after filling in all the columns no result is forthcoming. May be teething problems

  5. I appreciate your providing a calculator to work out the revised pension in accordance with the new formulation. However there seem to be an error atleast in some cases. For instance for some onewho retired on 31 May 2005 on a basic pay of Rs.22900 (including a stagnation increment) in the S-29 scale of 5th CPC of Rs. 18400-22400, the calculator shows a new revised pension of Rs. 72100. This is based on a notional 6th CPC pay of Rs.52594 and 7th CPC pay of Rs. 144200. However, according to the pay fixation tables attached to the Finance Ministry OM no. 1/1/2008-IC dated 30.8.2008, the notional pay under 6th CPC should be Rs. 63410; the corresponding 7th CPC notional pay will then be Rs. 1,67,200 (Level 14, stage 6), leading to a revised pension of Rs. 83,600. Kindly confirm this calculation. Thanks.

What formula will apply for the Revised Pension vide New Formula for the employees retired in September, 2005?

  7. “Basic pension” as on 1.1.2016 is the full pension, before commutation, am I right? What about “Basic Pay on retirement” (for the purposes of this calculator)? Should I include Grade Pay or should I not? Can you please clarify this for me?
